General Details
Listing Description:
Also known as the William Elliot House, The Anchorage is one of the most significant surviving historic buildings, having played a conspicuous part in Beaufort’s post Revolutionary, Antebellum and Civil War history. The Anchorage was built with certain modifications in the typical Beaufort Style of architecture that was prevalent during the latter part of the 18th century. The broad golden-oak staircase, with three banisters to a tread, was installed by Adam Beardsley around the turn of the century.
